Southland Named A Top 20 Emerging International Travel Destination
Southland (the southern part of New Zealand) has just been named one of the world's top 20 emerging international travel destinations, alongside exotic locale like Pranburi in Thailand, Mazatlan on the Pacific Coast in Mexico and Paphos in Cyprus. The accoldade comes from Australia's Travel and Leisure Magazine editor, Anthony Dennis.
Mr Dennis described The Southern Scenic Route, the tourist highway that links Te Anau and Dunedin via Fiordland, Invercargill and the Catlins, as "one of the world's great undiscovered drives''
So if you were needing further reasons to consider moving to the Otago Southand region, not only do we have fantastic family friendly cities of Dunedin and Invercargill, together with iconic Milford Sound and adventure capital Queenstown in close reach, but we also have World Heritage-listed Fiordland National Park, The Catlins, the Southern Scenic Route and Stewart Island!
"... experience wild pristine forests, waterfalls, lakes and rugged coastlines, dotted with lonely lighthouses, and glimpse rare and endangered wildlife such as yellow-eyed penguins, whose beachside habitat can be viewed from a special-constructed hide at Nugget Point in The Catlins" - Anthony Dennis, editor Australia Travel & Leisure Magazine |
